INAMI
井波のまち
井波は日本有数の木彫りの町で、町の中心には超絶技巧の彫刻が至るところに施された名刹・瑞泉寺があります。かつては「彫刻師の嫁になれ」と言われていたほど彫刻が栄えた時期がありましたが、生活様式の変化から産業全体の売上高は減少傾向にあります。現在、町には200人近い彫刻師が暮らしていますが、職人の数は減少傾向。親方には弟子を取る経済的な体力がなく、木彫刻職人を育成するための町の訓練学校は2022年に休校となり、後継者が途絶える懸念もあります。また、2012年には井波高校が閉校となり、若者の地域外への流出も深刻な問題となっています。
Many of Inami sculptures are one-of-a-kind, and the artisans themselves rarely see the works after they leave their hands. Even if they are recorded in photographs or videos, it is difficult to convey the size and three-dimensionality of the work. In this project, the production process of artworks and finished products will be scanned into 3D data and made available for everyone to see.
